I based this program from Alex Tomanovichs BEAMANAL spreadsheet, but updated it to the 13th Edition.A new structural engineering graduate from Georgia Institute of Technology inspired me to write the spreadsheet.
Aisc Beam Design Example How To Calculate TheHe sent me an email (after reading my blogpost on Eccentrically Loaded Bolt Group) asking how to calculate the C coefficient of a bolt group whose geometry is not symmetrical.I based this program from Alex Tomanovichs BOLTGRP spreadsheet, but updated it to the 13th Edition. This design manual provides fully detailed double-shear bolted connections for every connector-to-brace combination possible for both bearing-type and slip-critical connections and for a variety of bolt diameters and grades. The manual also discusses everything from the full-scale product testing carried out at leading University laboratories to a discussion on best practices for fitting, drilling, and welding to the connectors. As such the user knows how the result is derived and has full control on the calculation. User can access the program online at User can access the program manual online at and via PDF. I based this program from Alex Tomanovichs CLIPCONN spreadsheet, but updated it to the 13th Edition. The only thing I can find on the AISC website is the AISC SHAPES database, however it is an excel file, but there are no instructions on how this database gets linked with the workbook. If anyone could assist me on this I would be greatly appreciative. The calculator runs within my blog, engineersviewPoint.blogspot.com. We can use this type of connection when the other type are not able to transfer the factored moment The reference used in the attached spread sheet is Hollow Structural Sections-Connection Manual-AISC Copyright 1997. The example in this reference is in LRFD format and imperial units. This tool is not password protected in order to give the possibility to make minor changes. Input results, 2. Canadian database, 3. This tool must be used only by professional engineers after thorough verification. I designed the tool of my best knowledge but I dont assume any responsibility in case of errors.
